Candice Mckenzie - Biog
Being a female DJ in such a male dominated industry, DJ Candice McKenzie takes great pleasure in proving that the power of the DJ is in their skill, and not their sex.
Ambitious, versatile, determined and professional are just a few words used to describe Candice. DJing professionally since 1999 and going under the DJ name of ‘baby C’Candice, at the age of 17 began playing out at House Parties for friends before making her club debut in the Zar Bar in Ladywell, South East London playing Old Skool House.
Her audience were shocked by her passion, knowledge and enthusiasm towards the Old Skool sounds. It was then that Candice realised that her love for the art of DJing was a feeling that was not going to go away and begun pursuing a more professional career.
Candice's career has gone from strength to strength. She continues to DJ the UK but is now a permanent figure in Europe... her amazing talent and right choice of Sexy Funky House and Disco being her eternal ticket, taking her to countries such as Croatia, France, Greece, Slovenia and Tbilisi, Georgia.
When she is not spinning in the clubs, Candice keeps herself busy by working in the studio remixing Disco tracks. She has just finished a re-edit of the Strikers classic 'Body Music' and although there are no plans for a release, it will be featured on her Dolly Mixture CD's and in her DJ sets.
Black Barbie
Black Barbie is Candice's Alter Ego. Whilst playing her Uplifting, Funky sound to audiences around the globe Candice was also working on another project, putting her energy into a completely different style of electronic music, mainly Progressive, Tech House, Minimal and Techno.
Candice wanted keep this project completely separate from her regular DJ activities and only plays these kind of sets under the name Black Barbie, a name that is a playful spin on her nickname which is Dolly.
